Whether you’re taking a short bus trip to the other side of your state or taking a trip to the other side of the country, you’ll have a blast kicking back and seeing the sights. However, one thing that might frustrate you when traveling by bus is the lack of connectivity. It can be hard to stay in touch with the outside world when you don’t have a great internet connection.
Here are some ways to keep in touch with others when taking a lengthy bus trip!
Utilize Your Cellphone
When traveling across the country, there are some remote areas where you won’t have cell service, but if you hang tight for a few minutes, you should move out of those areas and back onto the grid in no time! You can access at least a 4G LTE network in almost any part of the country.
Bring a Mobile Hotspot
You can primarily use your cell phone to stay connected with others when you’re out on the road, but there will be times when you need a faster connection than your phone can provide. In those instances, it’s good to have a mobile hotspot handy. A mobile hotspot is a device that can establish an internet connection through a cell phone provider and then allow as many as ten laptops, tablets, and other devices to connect to it. Just be careful about connecting too many devices since it can dramatically slow them down.
Take Advantage of Free Wi-Fi
Thousands of restaurants, coffee shops, libraries, laundromats, and other establishments have free Wi-Fi hotspots inside them these days. When your bus pulls over for a lunch break, see if you can access one of these hotspots to enjoy a free internet connection. Even some parks and downtown areas are now outfitted with free Wi-Fi. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding a few free Wi-Fi opportunities during your travels.
